Ariel Hernandez, or Ayi as known to his friends and colleagues, is a social development professional for more than 27 years.
His strong commitment to peace and development work is generated from his exposure and continuing understanding of the root causes of war and conflicts in Mindanao, enriched throughout his career. His in-depth formation program in a Jesuit school stirred his deep enthusiasm to serve.
Professionally, he has an extensive and intensive background in development planning, leadership development, security sector partnerships, micro-finance, technical vocation school development and disaster response and resiliency building. These areas of expertise over the years have provided him a good network among civil society groups, government including police and military institutions, business organizations and the academe in Mindanao, the Philippines, the ASEAN Countries and in some parts of Europe and the USA.
He was also an awardee of Bayanihan Civilian Award of the Armed Forces of the Philippines in during it 78th Anniversary in 2016. The award was personally given to him by President Rodrigo R. Duterte. The award cited his contribution to building peace in the conflict-affected communities in Mindanao thru the involvement of various stakeholders.
